Privacy & security
Is my journal actually private?
Yes. Your entries are encrypted at rest using AES-256 and encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3. Your data lives in a cloud database hosted with a major infrastructure provider certified for ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 1, SOC 2, and GDPR compliance. Access controls ensure that only your authenticated account can read or write your data. We never sell your data, never show advertising, and never use your content to train AI models.
Can the Rmind team read my entries?
For day-to-day use, no. Access to user content is restricted to a small number of named engineers and only used for debugging at your explicit request, investigating abuse, or when legally compelled. Routine engineering work happens against anonymous test data. We will never proactively read your journal. If you want true zero-knowledge encryption (where even we technically can't read it), that's on our long-term roadmap but not yet available — be wary of any AI journaling app that claims this today, because real AI features require the server to read the content at query time.
Does the AI train on my journal?
No. We use a paid Google Gemini API tier, which under Google's terms does not retain prompts or use them to train models. Your entries are never sent to any other AI provider.
What does the AI actually see?
Only what you ask it to. When you write a note, the text is sent to Gemini once to generate a semantic fingerprint (so LifeGPT can find related entries later). When you ask LifeGPT a question, the matching entries are sent to Gemini along with your question so it can craft a reply. Voice recordings are uploaded for transcription and then immediately deleted — only the resulting text is saved.
What if there's a data breach?
Because storage is encrypted, raw database files alone can't be read without our encryption keys. We follow industry-standard incident response practices and will notify affected users within 72 hours of confirming any breach, as required by GDPR.
Account & data control
Can I export everything?
Yes. Profile → About Rmind → Manage your data → Export gives you a complete JSON download of your entries, profile, and metadata.
What happens when I delete my account?
All your logs, attachments, embeddings, and profile metadata are permanently deleted within 30 days. There's a brief soft-delete window so accidental deletions can be reversed within 7 days by contacting support.
Can I use Rmind without an account?
No. An account is required so your entries sync across devices and survive a phone replacement. Account creation only requires an email address (no phone number, no real name).
Can I use Rmind offline?
Browsing existing entries works offline once the app is loaded. New entries can be drafted offline, but AI features (LifeGPT, monthly insights, voice transcription) require an internet connection.
App lock & PIN
What if I forget my PIN?
The PIN is stored as a hashed value on your device and cannot be recovered. If you forget it, tap "Forgot PIN?" on the lock screen to sign out — you can then sign back in with your email and set a new PIN. Your entries are safe in the cloud and will reappear after sign-in.
Does biometric unlock store my fingerprint?
No. Biometric unlock uses your device's built-in secure enclave — Rmind never sees, stores, or transmits fingerprint or face data. We only ask the OS "is this the enrolled owner?" and get a yes/no answer.
Subscription & billing
How does the free trial work?
7 days of full Premium access with no charge. You can cancel anytime from your Google Play or App Store subscriptions page — if you cancel before the trial ends, you'll never be billed. After the trial, you'll be charged the plan you selected (monthly or yearly) unless you cancel.
Does Rmind see my payment details?
No. Payments are processed entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play. We only receive your subscription status (active / expired) — never your card number, billing address, or any payment information.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for purchases made through Apple App Store or Google Play are handled by Apple and Google respectively. Contact their support; we can't issue refunds directly because we never receive payment.
AI features
What is LifeGPT?
A natural-language search across your past entries. Ask things like "what did I eat last week?" or "when did I last meet Priya?" and it pulls the matching memories and answers in plain English.
Are AI requests rate-limited?
Yes. Free users get a small daily AI quota for trying out LifeGPT and insights. Premium users get a much higher daily quota that comfortably covers everyday use. Limits reset at midnight in your local timezone.
Does the AI ever get things wrong?
Sometimes. AI summaries can occasionally miss nuance or misinterpret an entry. We tune our prompts and validators aggressively to catch hallucinations, but if you ever see something that doesn't match your actual entry, please tell us — it helps us improve the model behavior.
